Jack's Personal Background

Jack has many interests outside the university, interests which encompass several different areas. First and foremost is his family. Jack is married with three children, ages 24, 22, and 7. He believes in educating children, through the family, to be independent, and, in doing so, not only learn useful skills, but also the importance and the reward of hard work.

In his spare time, Jack has many hobbies and activities. He is very intrigued by geneology and ethnic backgrounds, and has been able to trace his own family back to the 1700's. Ethnic backgrounds are especially close to his heart, since his youngest child (pictured above) is a daughter which he and his wife adopted from Russia, an event which spawned an interest international adoptions. On the lighter side, Jack enjoys writing correspondence, both paper and e-mail. He also very much enjoys reading classic and contemporary works, including such authors as Ernest Hemingway and Joyce Carol Oates. Jack is also somewhat of a novice carpenter and electrician, doing minor electrical work and woodwork around his home, as well as building "junior high s hop products" for his Technical Writing classes to document. He also admits to enjoying going out eat, stating that it gives him an "excuse to get out."
