Professor Slack's research focuses on the relationship between communication and culture and has both theoretical and practical components. Her research deals primarily with theoretical isssues in cultural studies; technology and culture; environment and culture; art and culture.

She is author of "Culture + Technology | A Primer" (with J. Macgregor Wise, 2005), "Communication Technologies and Society "(1984) and editor of "The Ideology of the Information Age" (with Fred Fejes, 1987), "Thinking Geometrically" (by John Waisanen, Peter Lang, 2002), and "Animations (of Deleuze and Guattari)"(Peter Land, 2003).
