RTC Graduate Student Roxane Gay Receives Diversity Award Scholarship

Rhetoric and Technical Communication graduate student Roxane Gay received the Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication's Diversity Award Scholarship at its annual conference in Minneapolis. Chosen from a highly qualified group of applicants, Roxane is the first to receive this award. Fellow RTC Graduate Students Jim Nugent, Erik Hayenga, Laurence José, and Jim and Casey Rudkin presented papers and chaired panels as well.
Humanities Instructor Michael Moore Receives Teaching Award

The Michigan Tech Center for Teaching, Learning, and Faculty Development today presented Humanities Instructor Michael Moore with the Fredrick D. Williams Instructional Innovation Award.
Humanities Professor Randy Freisinger Receives Teaching Award

Humanities Professor Randall Freisinger recently received Michigan Tech's Distinguished Teaching Award for 2008 in the category of professor. The award includes a cash prize of $2500.
RTC PhD Student Moe Folk Receives Exceptional Graduate Student Scholar Award

Ph.D. Candidate Moe Folk was recently named Exceptional Graduate Student Scholar by Michigan Tech's Graduate Student Council. The award is given to graduate students who have best excelled in academic pursuits. Winners are chosen based upon their performance in the classroom and their contributions to research activities, publications, presentations, and other scholarly works.
RTC PhD Student Receives Outstanding Visual Artist Award

Ph.D. Student Christine Garceau has received an award for Outstanding Visual Artist of 2008 from the Marquette Arts and Culture Center. The MACC awards honor individuals, organizations and businesses that have positively impacted the quality of life in Marquette. Christine will receive her award at a ceremony at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette on Friday, May 16th at 7:00 P.M., preceded by a reception from 5:30-7:00pm.
Philosophy Professor Michael Bowler Publishes Book on Heidegger & Aristotle

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Michael Bowler's book, Heidegger and Aristotle: Philosophy as Praxis was published as part of the Continuum Studies in Continental Philosophy series (New York: Continuum, 2008).
Community Literacy Journal Nominated

The Community Literacy Journal has been nominated for Best New Scholarly Journal for 2008 by the the Council of Editors of Learned Journals (CELJ).
Michigan Tech Writing Center Wins Award

The Michigan Tech Writing Center is the only writing center to receive the National Writing Program of Excellence Award in 2007, and the second writing center to be recognized in the history of the award.
Michigan Tech Writing Center Renovated

The Kimberly Clark Corporation donated funds to renovate and expand the Michigan Tech Writing Center in recognition of the work the center does to productively engage diversity.
