Application Requirements
Requirements for Concentrations in English, and Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts
Students applying to either the Liberal Arts or the English Major should contact Chuck Nelson to ensure they satisfy admissions requirements.
Applicants to Liberal Arts should possess strong composing and critical thinking skills. New Freshmen must meet the entrance standards of the University, and current students must have at least a 2.5 GPA overall and demonstrate strong performance in humanities courses. If possible, students should bring the following documents with them when meeting with the program director:
- A filled-out Change of Major authorization form
- A copy of your Unofficial Transcript from the Registrar's Office
- A writing sample or portfolio of previous coursework

Students applying to either the Liberal Arts or the English Major should contact Evie Johnson to ensure they satisfy admissions requirements.
Applicants to Liberal Arts should possess strong composing and critical thinking skills. New Freshmen must meet the entrance standards of the University, and current students must have at least a 2.5 GPA overall and demonstrate strong performance in humanities courses, especially those required for the English Education degree. Students must submit to the program director:
- Two (2) samples of written work (these may be from a course with a writing component, such as Revisions)
- A Statement of Purpose describing why they want to enter the program
