Nancy Grimm has directed the Michigan Tech Writing Center for more than twenty years. She is a professor in the Humanities Department, and her scholarly interests include literacy studies, composition theory, and writing center theory. It was under Nancy's direction that the Michigan Tech Writing Center became a nationally recognized writing center. Nancy was also responsible for establishing and coordinating the campus learning center programs here at Michigan Tech. She has won awards from the National Writing Centers Association for outstanding scholarship on writing centers, one in 1996 for a Writing Center Journal article, and one in 1999 for her book, Good Intentions. Jill Hodges is our Associate Director. She is also the learning difference resource person for our coaches, students and faculty. Jill is a Ph.D. candidate in Rhetoric and Technical Communication at Michigan Tech. She is also a co-advisor for the American Indian Science & Engineering (AISES) students on campus and very interested in indigenous teachings. One of her favorite web sites on native teaching is The Four Directons Teaching Site. She is also the co-advisor for the local chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success at Michigan Tech. A few of Jill's interests are spending time with her husband, especially at their cottage on Lake Superior, visiting her children in Washington and Oregon, riding Harleys, and stream fishing.

ANGELA BADKE is our Administrative Coordinator.   She is also the co-coordinator of the Making Our Mark@MTU website which features stories of underrepresented students on Michigan Tech's campus.   Angela graduated from Michigan Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. As an undergraduate, she was a coach for the Writing Center where she worked with students from a range of cultures. Angela is looking forward to beginning her Master's degree in Rhetoric and Technical Communication at Michigan Tech in the Fall of 2009.   She is very interested in traveling and, while she has been to several states, is now looking forward to traveling overseas beginning with England, Germany and Finland.
