Coming to Michigan tech wasn’t the easiest decision to make.  But that time, I didn’t receive a good comment about my decision of coming here.  People told me about that weather, but I already knew that.  They also told me about many other qualities of the U.P.  But there was nothing that could’ve stopped me.  I already visited Michigan Tech and I knew what I was getting myself into.  I believe I only had two people rooting for Michigan Tech. It was my friends Michael Urena and Francisco Ramirez, just because they are my fiends and they also take those insane decisions.  My brother Sammy was also a big support.  He wanted me to go to Western Michigan because he graduated from that school, but he understood that I wanted to do something different , so he support me and gave  good advices.  The other supportive person was my mother.  She didn’t really knew about the whole thing because she had only a couple weeks in the United States, so she told me that I was the only one who knew what was good for me.

There is one thing that a very special person told me once. She said, “You are the only one that knows what is good for you because you are the only one going through it”.  I don’t really know if this is true or not, but I like it and it has work for me.  I’ currently in my second semester in Michigan Tech, and I receive a lot of congratulations when I go back home.  People tell me they are proud of me for all I have done.  And those were the people that thought that going to MTU was a crazy idea.
Sometimes I think about my life and I ask myself the same questions.  What would I be doing if I were in Cuba? Or, Would I have done the same thing if I would’ve transfer to another university?  Probably, because it is you who decide your own future not the university.  But, the university shapes your life in a way that makes you grow stronger and wiser.  And I need to tank Michigan Tech for that.
Would I have done bigger things?  I guess I will never know.
