July 23 - 26, 1913

These telegrams are the earliest in the collection.  They are, aside from one, all from MacNaughton (who is running the mines in Michigan) to Shaw (who is in Boston).  They lay out the beginnings of the strike, starting with a few angered workers who inspire the rest to follow.  As the strikers slowly take over all of the mines in the area, MacNaughton is arranging for troops to be brought in for protection, as well as hundreds of people to be sworn in as Deputy Sheriffs.  By the 26th, most of the mines are in the hands of the strikers.
