WHAT:
The Superior-Pacific Ride for Survivorship is a grassroots fundraiser bicycle ride for the Lance Armstrong Foundation from Houghton, MI to Seattle, WA (view a route map).
100% of all money donated goes directly to The Lance Armstrong Foundation to support cancer survivorship through education, advocacy, public health and research programs.

WHO:
Michigan Tech students Jay Prescott and Jeff Dambrun

WHEN:
May and June, 2007

WHY:
We are both at that point in our lives where we need to accomplish goals that we might not be able to once we are committed in other ways. Jay considered the possibility of integrating a cross country bike trip with a fundraiser for survivorship. When Jay asked Jeff if he was interested, Jeff replied with an emphatic, "Yes".

The Lance Armstrong Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports a diverse and comprehensive array of cancer survivorship efforts. Not only will donations go towards cancer research, but other important areas like education and social support for suvivors and their families. We both feel strongly about this comprehensive approach. We feel that combating the social disruptions of cancer are as important as laboratory research.
