Michael Bowler
Assistant Professor of Philosophy
Michigan Technological University

I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University in beautiful Houghton, MI.  I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Notre Dame.  I specialize in Contemporary Continental Philosophy (especially Phenomenology, Hermeneutics and Existentialism) and Ancient Greek Philosophy, but I also have an abiding interest in the History of Philosophy, particularly (but not limited to) 19th Century Continental Philosophy, e.g., Neo-Kantianism, German Idealism, Nietzsche,Kierkegaard, and Dilthey, and Medieval Philosophy.  At the moment I am particularly interested in the nineteenth-century philosophical context of twentieth-century continental philosophy, especially the work of Martin Heidegger .  Before I began attending Notre Dame I received a masters degree in Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy at Indiana University.  Before that I received a bachelor of science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the School of Engineering at the University of California, Davis
