Sense of purpose
You will produce a 7-10 page written argumentative research paper on a questionable ethical practice within the company of the product you used in the Timeline Map Project.
You will need to develop a challenging research question on the ethical integrity of this corporation. This company may have had one major catastrophic unethical event occur, or it may have unethical events still occurring. You will need to research and evaluate the circumstances surrounding these event(s) and propose how you would change the situation (based upon rhetorical principles), why you would change the situation in this manner, and then also consider the ramifications for your suggested change.
This paper needs to demonstrate your ability to product complex and in-depth arguments, analyses, and explanations that exhibit awareness of the value of multiple points of view and sensitivity to the rhetorical situation. It also needs to show that you conducted research into a range of appropriate (journal articles, books, news articles) sources and that these sources are documented correctly.
Other things to note
- You will be creating multiple drafts of this research paper, in which you are expected to keep note of what you are changing from draft to draft and why. This also means that you need to make sure you are also saving each draft as a separate electronic file.
- You will be creating a draft of your design plan to turn in for feedback. This design plan will outline the information you are intending to present, list the strategies you are planning on using in your paper, and present an informal Works Cited page.
- Your paper is required to be 7-10 pages in length, not inclusive of your Works Cited page or title page, which is additional to your 7-10 pages of written text.
- There will be two drafts then a final draft due. Each draft counts towards your final research paper grade. We will be having peer review days in class for the two drafts of your research paper. It is important that you treat every draft like it is your final draft (i.e. meeting the page requirement, writing formally, editing the draft).
- Creating an appropriate Works Cited page and citing information in text for the final draft is paramount. You will be required to obtain at least ten sources, five of which must be from books or journal articles.
- Along with your paper, you are also expected to write a reflective paper to explain what you changed from draft to draft and why you changed it
