According to Feenberg, philosophy traditionally has polarized around two contrary positions, namely uncritical acceptance of the claims made for technology [technology as savior] or uncompromising rejection of technologyís dystopian power [technology as inflexible iron cage]. This dichotomy depended on a sharp distinction between technology and society shared by both advocates and adversaries of technical progress. Today, as technology is more pervasive and has more power than ever, this distinction between society and technology has broken down (2).
