Deibert defines social epistemology as "the
web-of-beliefs into which a people are acculturated, and through which they perceive the
world around them." This web-of-beliefs (ideology? frames?) encompasses an interwoven
set of symbolic forms, cognitive biases and social constructs that provide the general
metaphysical presuppositions and boundaries that frame the thinking and practice of a
people in time (177).
