Ever since I joined, I have been incorporating STC into every part of my school life. I love being active and am also part of the STC Arts Enterprise, Student Theater Association, Social Dance Club, and have studied abroad in Japan. While I was unsure when I came to Michigan Tech, STC and the STC Student Chapter is definitely the place for me.![]() Stephen Anderson - Vice PresidentMajor: Scientific and Technical CommunicationStephen Anderson, the Vice President of the STC Student Chapter, is in his second year as an STC major at Michigan Tech. In addition to his involvement in the chapter, he has stayed active by serving as the News Editor for the Michigan Tech Lode and Editorial Director for the STC Arts Enterprise. Stephen also serves as a youth soccer referee in the local community and as a youth helper in his local church. His hobbies include spending time with his girlfriend, playing and watching sports, and sleeping.![]() Belle Wirtanen - TreasurerMajor: Scientific and Technical CommunicationI am originally from Hancock, Michigan. I chose to attend Michigan Tech because of the STC program. I am currently a senior majoring in Scientific and Technical Communication with a minor in Communication Studies. I have been able to enjoy my experience in the program, while learning valuable skills I hope to utilize when I graduate. I have been Treasurer of the MTU Student Chapter of STC since the spring of 2007 when the chapter was restarted.![]() Cassie Brabon- SecretaryMajor: Scientific and Technical CommunicationCassie Brabon is the newly appointed secretary for the Chapter. MTU was a natural choice for me, due to the credibility of the university. I picked STC for my major because communication has always been an important part of my life. Once at MTU I added a minor in Psychology because of the strong connection that it has to the growing field of STC. I am looking forward to a promising career in Texas after graduation. Being involved in the STC Chapter is an exciting way to build new relationships with students and professors. The chapter has a rich history and I am proud to be a part of getting the chapter reestablished. Being organized, detail orientated, and highly motivated this field of study has proven to be both fitting for me and challenging. I've taken on a variety of projects, outside of academia, throughout my educational career; I have learned life-long lessons from these projects that have taught me how to adapt my current studies in industry. I enjoy working out, being with friends and family, photography, scrapbooking, painting, reading, traveling, and living life to its fullest! ![]() Marika Seigel - Faculty AdvisorMarika Seigel has served as faculty advisor to the chapter since 2005. She is an assistant professor in the Department of Humanities, where she teaches courses in technical communication, usability, and rhetoric. |
