Identify yourself as a participant in the conference to receive the discounted rate. After September 6, 2005, rooms will be available on a space-available basis only. Travel
There are four ways to get to Houghton. Fly into the Houghton Memorial County Airport (CMX), take a Greyhound, drive yourself, or fly into a surrounding airport and drive. The surrounding airports are a bit of a drive (100+ miles), so make sure to check the distance before flying into a location other than Houghton. See the travel sheet for options other than flying or driving to Houghton.

Airport Shuttles

Complimentary shuttle service from the Houghton/Hancock Memorial Airport to the following conference hotels: Houghton Super 8, Holiday Inn Express and Best Value King's Inn, will operate from Wednesday through Sunday meeting all flights. Shuttles will be timed to get to the airport well before all arriving and departing flights.

Participants staying at the Best Western Franklin Square Inn should call the hotel directly in advance at 906/487-1700 to arrange for their complimentary shuttle to/from the Houghton/Hancock Memorial Airport.

Participants not staying at one of the conference hotels should call, Neil's Cab: 906-482-5515 (reasonable taxi service) for transportation to their hotel.

Driving in the Keweenaw

Driving around Houghton and Hancock is no problem if you remember that the main streets in both towns are one way. However, if you are driving in the Upper Peninsula, keep a few things in mind. One, be alert for deer. Two, start with a full gas tank. Gas stations are often far apart in the U.P. Finally, enjoy the Fall colors!
