The Rich Possibilities for Ethnography in Understanding Faiths and My Faith in Ethnography to Make the World a Better Place

1. I am teaching a new course, Diversity at Work, for which I was named the Diversity Fellow at Purdue University.  This course incorporates diversity experiences some of which might be described as mini-ethnographies, which give the students a taste of what an ethnography might be like.  For example, I spent the day at a traditional Hindu housewarming ceremony while one of my Christian students attended a Jewish holy day service and follow up with the family.

2. Organizations are quickly embracing ethnography (from advertising to computer giants) as a methodology that can help them tap into the needs of people.  The examples that I have speak to my faith in ethnography as a means to change the world for the better.
